Antrim World Champion rider, Jonathan Rea announced on Social Media yesterday that he has signed another two-year deal with Japanese Racing outfit Kawasaki.
He will continue to race for them in the World Superbikes Championship in 2019 and 2020 seasons.
Rea started his Superbike World Championship career with Ten Kate Honda in 2008 before moving to Kawasaki in 2015. Its no surprise he has committed to a new deal with Kawasaki as he tasted his first Championship title with them in his first season and has reigned champion ever since. He is the only rider to do a hattrick in the Superbike World Championship and he is on course to make it four in a row this year. He won his 60th Superbike race last weekend in the Czech Republic and subsequently broke legendary rider, Carl Fogarty’s 19-year record of 59 wins in the World Superbike Championship.
Rea currently sits in first position with 281 points, bringing up the rear is Ducati’s Chaz Davies on 189 followed by Rea’s team mate Tom Sykes trailing Davies by 10 points.
We wish him the very best of luck!
