Andy Murray is to stick with his new coach Amelie Mauresmo.
Some fans expected him to make a fresh start after his humiliating quarter final exit at Wimbledon, but insiders claim he intends to confirm her place on his backroom team before the end of the month. The French woman, who was a shock replacement for Ivan Lendl has joined him at his Miami training base.
Murray, 27 is due to play the back to back Master Series events in Toronto and Cincinnati before the US Open which begins at Flushing Meadow, New York, on August 25. Will her review her position after then?
Murray Slips to 10 in World Rankings
He has slipped to No.10 in the world rankings, but even though some of his closest associates were not hugely impressed by his lack of consultation before her arrival, it seems Murray is reasonably relaxed to continue with the arrangement and that she is the RIGHT coach to be at his side at this stage of his career. In the aftermath of his historic victory at Wimbledon last year, Murray had been trying to maintain performance levels.
But struggling with an injured back has not help his cause. Mark Bender, his back specialist, is also out in Miami monitoring his every move. This could be a defining period in Murray’s career.
