Today's World Cup Quarter Final Previews

Today is the first day of the World Cup 2018 Quarter Finals, so what have we to look forward to?

Uruguay v France, today at 3pm

Uruguay go head to head to France this afternoon at 3pm. It is twenty years since France won the World Cup for the first and only time. Les Blues World Cup campaign got off to good if not exciting start, winning two of out the three last sixteen games. However, their game against Argentina was thrilling which showcased the talent they are known for. French teenager Kylian Mbappe stole the show when scored twice in the Argentina game, this boy is one to watch in today’s game.  Uruguay won all their three qualification games, most notably against their 3-0 victory over the host nation. Uruguay’s talisman, Edinson Cavani has yet to be confirmed as part of the starting eleven yet due to an injury he picked up from Uruguay’s 2-0 win over Portugal. This will be a massive blow if he isn’t fit to play upfront with Barcelona’s Luis Suárez.

Brazil v Belgium, this evening at 7pm

Five-time World Cup winners Brazil are chasing the World Cup title once again and hope to knock Belgium out of contention this evening. Brazil have been knocked out in the last three successive World Cups by a European side and Belgian will be hoping to be the fourth team to do so. Brazil won all their qualification games in Group E and beat Mexico 2-0 in the last sixteen. Belgium also won all their Group games. In the last match, they made a miraculous comeback against Japan, winning the game 3-2 literally in the last minute of stoppage time. In this evening’s game, Brazil are without Manchester City right-back, Danilo after he sustained an ankle ligament injury. Brazil aren’t short of understudies which includes Fagner, defender Marquinhos and midfielder Fernandinho. Casemiro is also out after picking up a booking in the game against Mexico. Brazilian duo Neymar and Coutinho need to be careful to not pick up another booking against Belgium as yellow cards will be wiped out after the quarter-finals. Belgium on the other hand are injury free however Jan Vertonghen and Kevin De Bruyne have been booked in previous games and need to be careful this evening. This will be one of the most exciting matches in this years World Cup so don’t miss it!
