Glentoran hosted Crusaders at the Oval and Ballymena travelled to Ards in last night’s thrilling quarter final clashes.
Crusaders came from behind twice to secure their 4-2 win over hosts Glentoran. Glentoran opened the scoring in the 6th minute when Robbie McDaid scored from a Curtis Allen cross. Just fourteen minutes later Crusaders levelled the scoring when Jordan Owens tapped in a cross from Gary Thompson. Glentoran went ahead in the 26th minute courtesy of another Curtis Allen goal. In the second half, Cru’s levelled again with a fine finish in bottom corner from David Cushley. Jordan Owens scored his second of the evening putting Crusaders 3-1 ahead just four minutes later and just five minutes before full time, substitute Paul Heatley banged in another for the Glens to seal a 4-2 victory.
Ards played host to Ballymena at the Bangor Fuels Arena, with Ballymena dominating the first half but with no joy. The had two chances denied by the crossbar during the match but Ards never gave up and this saw them grab a late goal in injury time. Jude Winchester clinched the winning goal from a deflection.
Last night results see Glentoran and Ards go through to the Semi-Finals. Cliftonville host Dungannon Swifts in the next quarter final on November 20th.
