The IFA announced yesterday that the GAWA will make their way to the Aviva in Dublin for an international friendly against Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland side, on Thursday the 15th of November.

It is the first time Martin and Michael O’Neill face off as opposing managers of their respective sides. The match comes as a great opportunity for both squads to gain experience ahead of their final games in the Nations League Cup. Northern Ireland will host Austria at Windsor Park on Sunday 18th November, while the Republic of Ireland travel to Denmark for their last fixture on the 19th November.

Northern Ireland have played the Republic on thirteen separate occasions but only secured three victories to date. The last meeting saw a Trappatoni led side hammer Northern Ireland, 5-0 in the Carling Nations Cup clash in 2011.

Both Michael and Martin have led their squads to Euros 2016 Finals and are so evenly matched, it will be hard to predict the score. Both teams are renowned for having fantastic fan’s so it will all come down to their performance on the day.
